BridgePort India Pale Ale (update)

Confession: I'm starting to like BridgePort. Now that i've tried it a few times, that distinctive, tangy bite is starting to grow on me. i'm starting to appreciate the complexity and distinctiveness of flavor here... its something for a more mature palate.

At first glance i might have guessed this brewsky was made in India but then i read the bottle and found out it's another one from Oregon (I'm sitting in Arizona right now, so Oregon is not the most natural guess in the world for me.) First impression: very stylish.

Why is it special: It goes through some of it's fermentation process while it's still in the bottle.
Also: The bottle looks cool.

What follows is a lot of pictures just to prove that i did not make it look orange on purpose. No matter what the lighting, it's still orange. (this is also not would i would have naturally expected).

As for the taste: I don't like it. Too much of that tart/sour taste for me. That' s probably because i lean toward the darker brews. Obviously a lot of people like it though, or else it would not have made it all the way down here from Oregon. You might say that BridgePort India Pale Ale is just not my cup of... beer... at this stage in life.

Taste: great, actually. i had a bottle before... i remember it being more bland, like a watered down Heineken. But i remembered wrong. Peroni puts forth a delightfully balanced taste, i want to compare it to a cross between Heineken and Corona, but its much better than just that. Quite yummy. Doesn't wear me out like other brewskies. Bravo, Peroni. You've made a believer out of me.

Interesting fact about Peroni: It tastes better straight from the bottle.

Let me tell you, these wine glasses are huge. This is almost two 12 oz. bottles of Peroni in one glass.

Four Peaks of Tempe, AZ

Four Peaks microbrewery is about a half mile east of ASU campus. It's one of the more classy places to get wasted, or just hang out if you want.

The beer here is great. You can get a sampler of all their in-house brewskies for like 8 bucks. Their pints are $3.75, except during happy hour when their 2.75. So good. They've got an oatmeal stout, it's the middle one here:
The other two are "snake bites," or half oatmean stout and half hard pear cider. You can do something similar if you fill a glass half full with hard apple cider and the rest of the way with Guinness. These two are a little too mixed, you're supposed to be able to see two drastically different hues: dark on top, light on bottom.

The Oatmeal stout (similar to Guinness) has been my favorite for a while. It's smooth, goes down easy and it has a mild chocolaty flavor.

To be honest, though, i've been leaning more toward the Kiltlifter as of late. It's got more bite, and it doesn't slow me down as much. That Oatmeal stout is like used motor oil coursing through my veins. I drank one here, but forgot to take a picture of it.
